Kiehl’s 4 Limited Edition Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masques 2013. Designs by Florence Welch, Spike Lee, Rosario Dawson, and Mark Ruffalo. For a fourth year Kiehl’s -the Old-World Apothecary which has earned a cult following for its classic skin care products, has initiated the Kiehl’s Limited Edition Label Art series by Friends of Kiehl’s, in which the company partners with several socially conscious celebrities to create limited-edition jars for its Cleansing Masque. This year features those by singer Florence Welch, of the British band Florence & the Machine; actor and progressive advocate Mark Ruffalo; actress and environmentalist Rosario Dawson; and Hollywood power figure Spike Lee.
One-hundred percent of proceeds from the “Friends of Kiehl’s” Label Art series will benefit Recycle Across America, a nonprofit organization which works to improve the recycling process throughout the country, to which Kiehl’s has already donated $100,000. The gift will help to create standardized recycling labels for K–12 schools across the U.S., in order to simplify recycling and to educate America’s youth. Such an organization goes hand-in-hand with Kiehl’s “Recycle and Be Rewarded”program, which the brand began in 2009. Kiehl’s shoppers can bring empty Kiehl’s containers into stores and, in return, are rewarded with free products: for 3 empties, one of Kiehl’s favorite Lip Balms; for 5, one Travel-collection product of the customer’s choice; and for 10, any product valued at up to $25. With this program, Kiehl’s hopes to encourage the recycling of its own products while also educating and rewarding consumers.
